BAIRD & COMPANY, LAWYERS & ESTATE AGENTS, was created when Donald Baird set up business on his own account in the old County Town of Cupar, Fife, in the late 1960's. With the investment by the Government in their New Town Strategy, the burgeoning settlement of Glenrothes became an important centre in Fife and the firm opened there in 1973. Thereafter, following the redrawing of the Sheriff Court boundaries, the firm opened in the largest town in the Fife region, namely Kirkcaldy, in the late 1970's.

From beginning as a one man firm, Baird & Company is now one of the largest legal businesses in East Central Scotland with eight partners and in excess of forty staff. The bedrock of the firm's business remains in private client work, providing traditional legal services to clients from all walks of life, including Residential Conveyancing, Estate Agency, Administration of Estates, Wills, Accident Claims, Matrimonial work and Criminal Court work.

Over the last few years, various specialisations have been added and the firm is mentioned as a specialist firm in the Legal 500 in relation to Housing Association work. The firm is mentioned in the Chambers Directory as one of the leading law firms in the UK and in 1995/1996 were finalists in the TSB/Law Society of Scotland "Business of Law Awards".

The firm have been involved in property related work in the Republic of Azerbaijan and have advised Scottish companies investing in the Czech Republic. Baird & Company are active in the ULR (Uninsured Losses Recovery) market,dealing with road traffic accidents, mainly acting for pursuers. Baird & Company's offices are not only within the Kingdom of Fife, a "beggar's mantle fringed with gold". A Dundee office was opened in September of 2001.

The Region is traditionally a strong agricultural area and the firm act for many farming clients. The historic town of St Andrews is known to golfers throughout the world. Baird & Company have significant experience in all legal aspects of golf course development.
