Signs of Life in house market
House sales could be close to bouncing back as buyers and sellers return to the market, according to research published today.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said buyer interest grew for the fourth month in a row in February albeit at a slower rate than the previous month.RICS said 27 per cent more surveyors in Scotland reported a rise in buyer enquiries than reported a fall in February. And new instructions bounced back from a fall in January, with 16 per cent more surveyors citing a rise than a fall.
Graeme Hartley, director of RICS Scotland, predicted that house prices and sales would increase over the coming months.
"This could be down to the availability of the home report for potential buyers, lower house prices and low interest rates encouraging cash buyers and those able to get a mortgage to see what's available" he said.
