Scottish House Price Monitor
"The quarterly price index for the average domestic property in Scotland rose by 2.3% in the three months ending April 2008 to give an average mixed-adjusted Scottish house price of £163,639. On an annual basis Scottish house prices have risen by 11.6%.
Prices in Central, Perth, Fife and Tayside excluding Dundee fell in the last quarter but have recovered strongly with an 8.6% increase in the latest quarter giving an annual underlying increase of 13.3%. the average house price in this area is £151, 036.
The Scottish housing market is demonstrating its traditional robustness in the face of price falls across the rest of the UK. With claimant unemployment at a more than 33 year low and consumer confidence still showing through with the latest retail sales annual increase of 6.6% and continuing (although moderate) levels of economic growth, the prospects for the Scottish housing market are for prices to plateau or gently increase over the next six months. The Scottish housing market having paused for breath, is enjoying its second wind."
